Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNO): Employees working under the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) have expressed serious concern over the non-payment of their salaries for several months, urging the authorities to release their pending dues at the earliest. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), one of the employees said the prolonged delay has caused immense hardship. “We have been working without pay for months now. Many of us are the only earning members in our families. It is becoming impossible to manage rent, school fees and daily expenses,” the employee said. Another employee said the delay has demoralized the entire staff. “Despite putting in our best efforts on the ground to empower rural women and promote livelihoods, we are left uncertain about our own financial security. It is heartbreaking that we have to beg for our salaries every few months,” he shared. Moreover, several other employees said they had raised the issue multiple times before higher officials, but no concrete step has been taken so far. “We keep hearing assurances, but nothing changes. Every month passes with new promises and we continue to suffer silently,” they said. Lastly, the employees urged the Lieutenant Governor-led administration and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government to take serious note of their plight. “We appeal to the administration to intervene and ensure regular and timely salary disbursement. We are performing our duties sincerely even under tough conditions; the least we expect is timely payment,” they added—(KNO)
